The overall impact of `Testimony Of The Ancients' is less of a crushing bodyblow than `Consuming Impulse', but it is an album with twists and turns not always noticeable at first. While not the instant classic of its predecessor, `Testimony Of The Ancients' shows Pestilence were about more than just being heavy, and on their day could play rings around a lot of other bands/5(21).

Two years after releasing one of the best death metal albums ever to surface from The Netherlands, Pestilence hit jackpot again with their album “Testimony Of The Ancients”. The 4th album by Dutch Death Metal legends Pestilence gets a well deserved re-issue! "Spheres", the fourth and final album by the original lineup of Dutch death metal legends Pestilence, is one of the most criminally misunderstood and underrated albums in the history of (extreme) metal.

After the raw power of influential predecessor Consuming Impulse, Pestilence returned with the more sophisticated death metal machinery of Testimony of the Ancients. Forced to compensate for the departure of bassist/lead throat Martin VanDrunen, guitarist Patrick Mameli took the reins -- both vocally and songwriting-wise -- and constructed this odd-for-the-death-metal-community high-minded concept record .
